On May 17 at 17.15 there happened ignition of the upper part of a glass melting vessel in the area of two stages continuous glass fiber production of Joint stock company "Polotsk-Steklovolokno".

The operating staff worked effectively. A fire-fighting crew was called, operation of glass melting furnace No 7 and 8 was suspended, and production of glass fiber was stopped temporarily.  

The fire has been extinguished within a short period of time. There are no injured. 

The combustion does constitute a threat to the environment and the further operation of the enterprise.
