1.1. Brief history of foundation of JSC «Polotsk-Steklovolokno».
Polotsk factory «Steklovolokno» was founded in 1957. In 2002 RUE «Polotsk PA «Steklovolokno» was reorganized into JSC “Polotsk-Steklovolokno”.
Today JSC "Polotsk — Steklovolokno” is an integrated enterprise uniting in the uniform complex the technological processes of raw materials preparation, glass melting, forming of glass fiber and its textile processing, finishing treatment of glass fabrics and production of glass reinforced plastics (GRPs).
JSC is specialized in production of glass fiber and the articles on its basis: electric insulation glass fabrics and fabrics for glass reinforced plastics, building and thermal insulation materials, silica materials, fishing rods, skiing sticks and other glass reinforced plastic articles.
JSC «Polotsk-Steklovolokno» is the only in Belarus manufacturer of materials on the basis of glass fiber, is specialized in production of glass yarns, rovings, glass meshes, glass fabrics of different structure and needle thermal insulation materials. Resource capabilities of a joint stock company at the present time allow to produce about 40 thousand tons of different glass fiber products.
From the very start the joint stock company is intended to keep high technology level in serial manufacturing and introduce high technologies in new materials. The materials produced on the basis of glass fiber belong to high-tech materials, are widely used in many branches of industry. This fact allows to provide for a joint stock company a stable position at the market, and herewith sales of the goods to a big extent are oriented at export, the share of which is more than 90%. A considerable part of developments is made by own laboratories of the joint stock company.
Up-to-date technologies and high level of personnel's skill of the joint stock company allow providing high quality of the products. Statistical data manipulation is used to control products quality; quality management system is introduced, conforming to the international standards series ISO 9001.
JSC «Polotsk-Steklovolokno» considers environmental protection to be one of the main principles of organization and implementation of its production activity. Starting from 2004 environmental management system has been introduced and is now in operation, which at the present time corresponds to requirements of the International standard ISO 14001-2005. The issued ecological certificate confirms that development and production of glass fiber, glass yarns, glass fabrics, non-woven materials, glass rovings, glass meshes and glass reinforced plastics correspond to the requirements of environmental legislation. The activity of ecological certificate of conformity of environmental management system to the requirements of ISO 14001 allows using of a sign of ecological conformity on advertising materials, posters and brochures, which witnesses about prestige of our joint stock company, competitive ability and about desire to fulfill ecological requirements in all the field of certification.
During the last two years at JSC «Polotsk-Steklovolokno» an international auditing of financial statements was held by the organizations having a high status and business reputation and entering «Big Four».

1.3. Brief description of the Republic of Belarus.
The Republic of Belarus (Belarus) is situated in the center of Europe. The capital is the city of Minsk. Belarus borders on Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Russia and Ukraine. The territory of Belarus totals 207.6 thousand sq km. It stretches from west to east for 650 km and from north to south for 560 km. In Europe Belarus is slightly smaller in area than Great Britain and Romania, 2.2 times as big as Portugal and Hungary and 5 times as big as the Netherlands and Switzerland.
The distance between Minsk and the capitals of neighboring states is as follows: Vilnius — 215 km, Riga — 470 km, Warsaw — 550 km, Kiev — 580 km, Moscow — 700 km.
The Republic of Belarus — unitary democratic social constitutional state.
State power in the Republic of Belarus is made on the basis of division into legislative, executive and judicial. The President of the Republic of Belarus is the Head of the State. Executive power in the Republic of Belarus is realized by the government — Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bela-rus. The supreme and legislative body is the Parliament — the National As-sembly, consisting of two Houses — the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic. Local authority and self-administration is made by the citizens via local Deputy Council, executive and administrative authorities, authorities of territorial and civil self-administration, local referendum, assemblies and other forms of direct participation in state and community affairs.
Geographical position of Belarus allows to talk about profitable economic-geographical and geopolitical position in the Eastern part of Europe. Belarus is located at the crossroads of the main railway and automotive highways, system of oil, gas and product pipelines, communication system between Western Europe and regions of Russia, the countries of Asia. The main track of Eurasia as well as the shortest transport routes from Central and Eastern regions of Russia to the countries of Western Europe and from the Baltic Sea to the Black sea run through the territory of Belarus.
The Republic of Belarus is divided territorially into 6 regions with administrative centers in Minsk, Brest, Vitebsk, Gomel, Grodno, and Mogi-liov, which include 118 administrative regions. On its territory there are 110 towns, among which there are 15 with the population more than 100 thousand people and 103 urban-type settlements.
The population of Belarus is 9,78 mln people. More than 70% of the total population are townspeople. The biggest city of the country — the capital Minsk, in which there are about 1,780 mln inhabitants.
The population engaged in economy is 4,3 mln people among them in industry — 1,15 mln people, in agriculture — 0,46 mln people. In the country modern system of preparation of qualified manpower is formed, which provides high educational level of population of the country and high qualification of workers, as well as in such branches, like automotive industry, tractor and agricultural machine building, optics, radio electronics, precise instrument making industry and others.
